Tanglewood Players on USAPA Ranking Points Board

Several Tanglewood Pickleball players find themselves on the USAPA Ranking Board.

Congratulations to the players that find themselves on the ranking board on the USAPA website. Considering the fact that most of you have been able to compete in only one sanctioned tournament, you deserve to be congratulated on your placements. Given more sanctioned tournaments to compete in, I am sure you would be at the top.

In order to obtain ranking points, players must be members of the USAPA, play in a usapa sanctioned tournament and place first, second or third.

"Good Morning Quebec" Covers Pickleball

Pickleball on "Salute Bonjour"

Today "Salute Bonjour", the French Canadian version of Good Morning America aired a video of two of our French-Canadian visitors last winter, Marcel and Louise Lemieux. Marcel contacted the TV station last winter to see if they would do a segment on Pickleball similar to the one on Good Morning America.

Marcel's e-mails were followed up on and arrangements were made to do the taping on May 5, 2009. The program was aired today. This shows how popular this game is becoming internationally.

As I informed you earlier, Pickleball Canada was launched back on April 25th, 2009. We are closing in on 100 members in the first month. Marcel has been very instrumental in helping the committee with this as well. This video will certainly give Pickleball a presence in Quebec, Canada. Marcel is also an ambassador for the usapa for his region of Quebec so he is doing a dual role.

Here is the link to Pickleball on Salute Bonjour

Unless your French is better than mine, you will probably pick up on Pickleball, tennis, and badminton. However, it is great the game is getting this kind of coverage.

On another note, Marcel discovered he had some serious medical concerns when he returned home. He will be having surgery tomorrow or Thursday, so we wish him well.

Tres bien Louise and Marcel

Patrick's Pickleball Protector

Is this who I think it is?
Is this the newest in Pickleball attire at the Tanglewood Pickleball Club?

My gosh, this has set Pickleball back 150 years. What has this person done?

The newest in Pickleball attire for the ultimate in protection? Or is that a complete distraction?
Hawaiian Pickleball. "Just for the Pineapple of it". A little "hula hula" on the serve.
The Pickleball Crawl was one thing put the Pineapple Crawl is another.
You are a good sport, Patrick!

Who Woulda Thunk - A College Credit in Pickleball!

Who Woulda Thunk you could get a college credit in Pickleball. Well guess what, you can this summer in California.
Obviously, one college realizes there is a need to take Pickleball seriously. How many more will follow?
Folks, it may not be too late to finish that college degree you aways wanted.

Here is part of the ad. I am not sure what endless amounts of "ralling and physique" means. Most of us have more physique than we need already and that is why we play Pickleball.

"This is a great way to have fun and earn transferable credit. Pickle ball will be a one transferable credit class. I have played this game in the past, and I really believe it's a great game to learn and play. It's filled with endless amounts of rallying and physique. "

A Little Piece of the Pickle - Pickleball in Decatur County, Tennesse

A few weeks ago Wayne Buck contacted me by e-mail with some pictures of the courts he built in his yard to play Pickleball on. I posted Wayne's e-mail and his pictures on this blog.
Well Wayne and Vicki are continuing to promote Pickleball back in Tennessee and here is the next instalment of their saga.
Read the story that appeared in the Lifestyles Section of their local paper.

A little piece of the pickle. New sport offered in Decatur County

This is what happens when snow birds become addicted to Pickleball and they go through "Pickleball Withdrawal". It is a very painful illness. I know I have suffered from it. It is like any other addiction, you have to have your fix, or you become anxious and more irritable than normal. There is only one know cure to this dreaded illness, find a place to play. Vicki and Wayne have found the cure. Way to go folks! Vicki you have to come up with a new line dance for The Tennessee Pickleball Crawl.

Wayne, I may have to give up the title Pickleball Promoter to a second Wayne.
